Kiteboarding is a relatively new type of sport and leaisure around the globe.  There are several opions about its birth date - one of them being year 1996 when the first pictures of kiteboarders in action where videotaped.  One year later - 1997 - the first kiteboarding company was established and Kiteboarding R & D center developed in southern France.

ABoards has been established only couple of years latter - in 1999.  From the beginning ABoards started building boards using snow-board technology.  R&D work was initiated to perfect the board's geometry by combining tunnel concave with flat rocker in the central part of board.  On - going experiments were and still are carried out by combining different composite materials and 3D surface profiling technologies to give necessary flex not losing strength and durability of the boards.
